2022 Clay County Candidates

Board of Commissioners

NOTE: Since there are no Democratic candidates running for the partisan office of Board of Commissioners, we are happy to be able to highlight the extremely well qualified Independent candidates running for the three available Board of Commissioners seats.
Dr. Russell Hughes
(Independent)

I have lived and maintained an optometric practice in Clay County for 41 years.  This county has provided me a great place to live and raise a family, and provided me a wonderful living for all these years.  I feel that I owe the community something for those wonderful years and becoming a commissioner is a small way that I can contribute back to the community.  I feel that I might bring some farsightedness to the board of commissioners and that they might become more pro-active rather than re-active.

Pam Roman
(Independent)

I have always been totally involved in my community via volunteering, mentoring and stepping up to the plate for any and all involvement in the activities, promotional as well as donating my time and money to whatever the community needed at the time. I feel I am qualified to professionally represent the Clay County as a Commissioner since I have been so involved in every aspect of my community.
I plan on donating my salary as a Commissioner to The Still Place since they are a non profit that is near and dear to my heart. I am not in this race for the salary or the notoriety. I am here for the community and all the citizens who live here in Clay County.
