SUMMARY:Clay County Democratic Party Monthly Meeting
DESCRIPTION:IMPORTANT NOTE:  We are returning to our original venue at the Corner Coffee & Wine Shop (a.k.a. “MJ’s”\,”Keep Me Posted”)  for our meetings since the United Community Bank community room fell short of expectations.  We are also returning to the 4th Tuesday of the month schedule.   \nThis Month we will continue to focus on the Clay County Democratic Party Strategic Plan.  Ivor Groves will continue to lead us through the brainstorming and development of goals and measurable objectives to achieve these goals.   We had participation from many community members last meeting and we hope to continue to have their valuable insights and contributions this meeting as well as we forge our plan. \nClay County Strategic Plan Status\nAs part of the monthly CCDP meeting on June 17\, we began work reviewing and updating our strategic work plan for 2025-27. About 15 members participated; the tasks were organized and facilitated by Ivor Groves. We reviewed our 2019-21 plan\, identifying our accomplishments\, then moved on to reviewing the NC State Dems goals for the current cycle. Consensus was reached on aligning our goals with those of the state organization. \nNC State Dem Goals \n1. Focus on continuous organization and training throughout the year\n2. Strengthen the party’s foundational structure and resources\n3. Develop and disseminate key messages that resonate with voters\n4. Aim to regain control of the NC Supreme Court by 2028\n5. Work towards winning control of the NC General Assembly by 2030 to influence redistricting \nClay County Dem Goals \n1. Get Democrats elected locally and statewide (relates to state goals 3\,4\,5)\n2. Clearly define and state our values as Americans as they apply to Clay County\n(from our website)\n3. Communicate clearly to engage with our community (relates to state goal 3)\n4. Raise funds to achieve our goals (relates to state goals 1 and 2) \nThe group made considerable progress identifying strategies for reaching Goals 1 and 2. More work will be focused on Goals 3 and 4 at the next monthly meeting. \nThe agenda for the meeting may be found here. \nAll Clay County voters are invited to attend our monthly meeting at the Corner Coffee & Wine Shop in Hayesville. The Clay County Democratic Party monthly meeting is on the fourth Tuesday of each month. Our meeting format begins with a half hour to meet and socialize at the beginning of the meeting starting at 5:30PM.  The informal socialization time will end at 6:00 PM at which time our guest speaker will begin.  Finally\, the business meeting will start at the conclusion of our guest speaker’s presentation\, typically around 6:30 PM and the business meeting typically runs about a half an hour.   The business portion of the meeting is open for all to attend\, and any Clay County registered democrats may vote in business meeting motions if they wish.

Erica will dive into the future of renewable energy and share how the current administration is impacting the renewable energy industry. \nBeyond her leadership in the party\, Erica works full-time in the renewable industry\, bringing 8 years of combined wind and solar experience in her role as a project manager. Her insights come straight from the front lines of renewable energy—and you won’t want to miss them! \nAll Clay County voters are invited to attend our monthly meeting at the Corner Coffee & Wine Shop in Hayesville. The Clay County Democratic Party monthly meeting is on the fourth Tuesday of each month. Our meeting format begins with a half hour to meet and socialize at the beginning of the meeting starting at 5:30PM.  The informal socialization time will end at 6:00 PM at which time our guest speaker will begin.  Finally\, the business meeting will start at the conclusion of our guest speaker’s presentation\, typically around 6:30 PM and the business meeting typically runs about a half an hour.   The business portion of the meeting is open for all to attend\, and any Clay County registered democrats may vote in business meeting motions if they wish. \n

DESCRIPTION:Building Community is a non-partisan monthly event intended to build strength within our own community to fight back against attempts to weaken our Democracy.  After the last election many of us have been experiencing a range of emotions— anger\, frustration\, disappointment\, uncertainty—and that these feelings can sometimes feel isolating.  Please know that you are not alone and that we are much stronger as a group.  Please join us the first Sunday of each month at 4:00 PM at the Corner Coffee Shop (MJs) in Hayesville for educational presentations\, riveting discussion\, and practical actions we can take to strengthen our community and our Democracy. \nFeel free to bring a to bring a personal snack and/or drink\, or finger foods if you wish to share. \nNOTE: Although Building Community is a local event addressing issues originating from our community members\, we have an affiliation with the national group\, Indivisible due to the overlap of common goals.  We believe we can learn\, grow\, and share more effectively with this affiliation.
