DESCRIPTION:The book selection for Monday\, April 8th 2024 is On Tyranny: Twenty Lessons From the Twentieth Century\, Graphic Edition.  The author is Timothy Snyder\, with illustrations by Nora Krug. \n“A more concise\, profound\, or essential book on the subject does not exist.\nSnyder’s masterwork is a stunning reminder of the myriad\, insidious forms oppression takes.\nNow beautifully illustrated by Nora Krug\, On Tyranny is a bellwether for\nwhat we must be awake to\, and fight against.” \nPlease note that this meeting will take place in the Community Room at the Moss Memorial Library.  Entrance will be via the door on the same side as The Friends of the Library Book Store. \n  \nFOR THOSE WANTING TO PERUSE SOME BANNED BOOK LISTS:\nTop 100 Most Banned and Challenged Books: 2010-2019 complied by the American Library Association at ala.org\nPEN America’s The 11 Most Banned Books of the 2022-2023 School Year at pen.org \nThe Banned Book Club stands up for intellectual rights by reading and discussing books that have been banned in libraries right here in the United States.  Anyone who cares about the freedom to exchange ideas is welcome to attend.  You may also be interested in visiting The Banned Book Club website to learn how to stand up and fight book bans and also how to get access to banned books in communities where they were banned.

DESCRIPTION:All Clay County Democrats are invited to attend our monthly meeting at The Corner Coffee Shop in Hayesville.  The Clay County Democratic Party monthly meeting is on the fourth Tuesday of each month with our speaker starting at 6:00 PM followed by an opportunity to share refreshments and socialize at 6:30.  The CCDP holds its business meeting starting around 7:00 PM\, and the business meeting is also open for all Democrats to hang around and attend if they wish. \nThis month’s featured speaker is a recorded presentation of Fareed Zakaria talking at the Free Library of Philadelphia.  Mr. Zakaria is a brilliant Indian-American journalist\, political commentator\,  and author.  He also hosts Fareed Zakaria GPS on CNN and writes a weekly column for The Washington Post.
