SUMMARY:FLIP Canvassing
DESCRIPTION:Join us Sunday\, September 13 from 12:30-3:30 PM for phone-banking and in-person Canvassing as we reach out to Democratic and like-minded unaffiliated voters ahead of this critical Midterm Election. \nNo experience is necessary\, we will train as needed\, and there are scripts to guide the conversation! If you have a cell phone\, and preferably a laptop too\, we can get you started phone-banking (which you can also do in your spare time on your schedule).  We also have the option to canvass by foot in pairs\, and voter information is recorded easily on your phone using the MiniVAN app. You’ll have meaningful conversations with voters about the issues that matter and share information about our Democratic candidates. Many voters are genuinely grateful for the opportunity to talk and learn more about what’s at stake in this election. \nIf you’ve never canvassed before\, this is a great opportunity to give it a try. Just show up at HQ at 12:30 PM\, and we’ll pair you with a volunteer so you can learn by shadowing.

DESCRIPTION:Building Community in Clay will have its monthly meeting Sunday\, September 13th\, 4pm at Moss Memorial Community Room (entrance beside the Bookstore).  In October we will be back to our first Sunday of the month schedule!\n\nThis month we will be writing postcards!  We’ll  provide the postcards\, addresses and messages. You write out the card\, buy the stamp\, and mail it!  While we are doing our cards\, we’ll be discussing our action plans for the final seven weeks leading up to midterms.  Please come and enjoy making your voices heard!\n  \nAbout Building Community\nBuilding Community is a non-partisan monthly event intended to build strength within our own community to fight back against attempts to weaken our Democracy.  After the last election many of us have been experiencing a range of emotions— anger\, frustration\, disappointment\, uncertainty—and that these feelings can sometimes feel isolating.  Please know that you are not alone and that we are much stronger as a group.   \n\nPlease join us the first Sunday of each month at 4:00 PM at the Moss Memorial Library’s Community Room in Hayesville for educational presentations\, riveting discussion\, and practical actions we can take to strengthen our community and our Democracy.  Entrance to the Community Room is from the door immediately to the left of the bookstore attached to the library.  Parking is allowed in the bookstore parking lot on Sunday and there is also plenty of street parking as well.  Feel free to bring a to bring a personal snack and/or drink\, or finger foods if you wish to share. \n\nNOTE: Although Building Community is a local event addressing issues originating from our community members\, we have an affiliation with the national group\, Indivisible due to the overlap of common goals.  We believe we can learn\, grow\, and share more effectively with this affiliation.

DESCRIPTION:We look forward to seeing you Tuesday where will have a representative from the Board of Elections answering questions as well as a meet and greet opportunity for Marcy Fuerch who is the Unaffiliated candidate for the Clay County Board of Education. \nUnfortunately\, School Board Chair Jason Shook has recently notified us that he will be unable to serve as our guest speaker at Tuesday’s meeting. After giving the matter careful consideration\, Jason has decided to withdraw because of concerns about maintaining consistency and fairness in his public speaking commitments. We respect his decision and appreciate his willingness to have been our guest. We apologize for the late change and appreciate everyone’s understanding. \nAll community members are invited to attend our monthly meeting at our Clay County Headquarters Office at 568 Tusquittee Street in Hayesville. We meet on the fourth Tuesday of each month. \n\n5:30 PM – Board of Elections representative available to answer questions\n6:00 PM – Meet and greet for Marcy Fuerch – candidate for the Clay County Board of Education\n6:30 PM (approx.) – Business meeting.  The business portion of the meeting is open for all to attend if they wish.\n\nNOTE: Parking is limited directly in front of our HQ building.  Here are a few guidelines for parking: \nFirst to arrive please angle park with your nose in the left corner in the front of the HQ building. Next cars should park parallel to that and four or five cars will fit that way. If those spaces are taken\, please use the parking on the far side of the red roof building\, “D&S Custom Leather”\, and pull toward the back (within red square in parking image below).  Please do not park directly in front of that building (marked with an X in the image below).
