DESCRIPTION:NOTE: This month’s meeting will be on the second Sunday of the month (Sunday\, Aug 9th) to accommodate our guest speaker.  We will also be meeting at the Moss Memorial Library in the Community Room (this will also be our new meeting location for future meetings as well). \nOur guest speaker for August will be Todd Goins\, Director of Social Services in Clay.  Todd will start speaking promptly at 4:00\,  so make sure you are there by 4pm!  Many thanks to Ivor Groves for making the arrangements. \nACTION ITEMS! \n\nCall Senator Tillis – 202-224-6342. Here’s your message:\nI strongly oppose both the Republican reconciliation bill AND the NDAA as currently written. I oppose Trump’s illegal war in Iran and don’t want more of my taxpayer dollars spent on it. I also oppose the voter suppression provisions that have been forced into both bills— they’re unneeded and would cause electoral chaos. And finally I oppose the Israeli/US military partnership included in Section 1217 of the NDAA. For all of these reasons I want the Senator to vote no on both bills.\nPlease consider volunteering for the Clay County Democratic Party! We have 99 days until November’s election and so much work to do! Call their HQ 828-342-5144 and find out how you can help. DESCRIPTION:Join us Sunday\, August 16 from 12:30-3:30 PM for phone-banking and in-person Canvassing as we reach out to Democratic and like-minded unaffiliated voters ahead of this critical Midterm Election. \nNo experience is necessary\, we will train as needed\, and there are scripts to guide the conversation! If you have a cell phone\, and preferably a laptop too\, we can get you started phone-banking (which you can also do in your spare time on your schedule).  We also have the option to canvass by foot in pairs\, and voter information is recorded easily on your phone using the MiniVAN app. You’ll have meaningful conversations with voters about the issues that matter and share information about our Democratic candidates. Many voters are genuinely grateful for the opportunity to talk and learn more about what’s at stake in this election. \nIf you’ve never canvassed before\, this is a great opportunity to give it a try. Just show up at HQ at 12:30 PM\, and we’ll pair you with a volunteer so you can learn by shadowing.

DESCRIPTION:This month’s guest speaker is TBD. \nAll community members are invited to attend our monthly meeting at our Clay County Headquarters Office at 568 Tusquittee Street in Hayesville. We meet on the fourth Tuesday of each month. \n\n5:30 PM – Informal social time to meet and connect\n6:00 PM – Guest speaker presentation\n6:30 PM (approx.) – Business meeting.  The business portion of the meeting is open for all to attend if they wish.\n\nNOTE: Parking is limited directly in front of our HQ building.  Here are a few guidelines for parking: \nFirst to arrive please angle park with your nose in the left corner in the front of the HQ building. Next cars should park parallel to that and four or five cars will fit that way. If those spaces are taken\, please use the parking on the far side of the red roof building\, “D&S Custom Leather”\, and pull toward the back (within red square in parking image below).  Please do not park directly in front of that building (marked with an X in the image below).
