NOTE: This month’s meeting will be on the second Sunday of the month (Sunday, Aug 9th) to accommodate our guest speaker. We will also be meeting at the Moss Memorial Library in the Community Room (this will also be our new meeting location for future meetings as well).
Our guest speaker for August will be Todd Goins, Director of Social Services in Clay. Todd will start speaking promptly at 4:00, so make sure you are there by 4pm! Many thanks to Ivor Groves for making the arrangements.

I strongly oppose both the Republican reconciliation bill AND the NDAA as currently written. I oppose Trump’s illegal war in Iran and don’t want more of my taxpayer dollars spent on it. I also oppose the voter suppression provisions that have been forced into both bills— they’re unneeded and would cause electoral chaos. And finally I oppose the Israeli/US military partnership included in Section 1217 of the NDAA. For all of these reasons I want the Senator to vote no on both bills. - Please consider volunteering for the Clay County Democratic Party! About Building Community
Building Community is a non-partisan monthly event intended to build strength within our own community to fight back against attempts to weaken our Democracy. After the last election many of us have been experiencing a range of emotions— anger, frustration, disappointment, uncertainty—and that these feelings can sometimes feel isolating. Please know that you are not alone and that we are much stronger as a group.
Please join us the first Sunday of each month at 4:00 PM at the Moss Memorial Library’s Community Room in Hayesville for educational presentations, riveting discussion, and practical actions we can take to strengthen our community and our Democracy. Entrance to the Community Room is from the door immediately to the left of the bookstore attached to the library. Parking is allowed in the bookstore parking lot on Sunday and there is also plenty of street parking as well. Feel free to bring a to bring a personal snack and/or drink, or finger foods if you wish to share.
NOTE: Although Building Community is a local event addressing issues originating from our community members, we have an affiliation with the national group, Indivisible due to the overlap of common goals. We believe we can learn, grow, and share more effectively with this affiliation.
