Building Community

The next Building Community meeting is Sunday, Oct. 4th, 4pm.  Our guest speaker will be Marcy Fuerch, Unaffiliated candidate for the School Board.  
 
No Kings will have a GET OUT THE VOTE rally October 17th.  Their focus is turning out the vote, not rallies like we’ve grown accustomed to.  We will have our own rally here in Hayesville on Saturday, October 24th, 12pm at Mayor’s Park, our usual spot.  Yes we want to turn out the vote (early voting starts Oct. 17th) but we also want to get the word out about those awful amendments on the ballot and to support the great candidates running locally.

We are also planning some smaller pop up rallies in downtown Hayesville. These will focus on info about the amendments and also early voting. We need people for October 15th and October 17th. Let me know if you are interested. We will send information for signs closer to the 15th. Time commitment will be around an hour or whatever you can do. We will need to do these as much as possible during early voting.
 
Have you checked your registration recently? We recommend that you do so now and a time or two before voting starts. Remember, if something needs correcting on your registration, you can update your info and VOTE during early voting!

About Building Community
Building Community is a non-partisan monthly event intended to build strength within our own community to fight back against attempts to weaken our Democracy.  After the last election many of us have been experiencing a range of emotions— anger, frustration, disappointment, uncertainty—and that these feelings can sometimes feel isolating.  Please know that you are not alone and that we are much stronger as a group.  

Please join us the first Sunday of each month at 4:00 PM at the Moss Memorial Library’s Community Room in Hayesville for educational presentations, riveting discussion, and practical actions we can take to strengthen our community and our Democracy.  Entrance to the Community Room is from the door immediately to the left of the bookstore attached to the library.  Parking is allowed in the bookstore parking lot on Sunday and there is also plenty of street parking as well.  Feel free to bring a to bring a personal snack and/or drink, or finger foods if you wish to share.

NOTE: Although Building Community is a local event addressing issues originating from our community members, we have an affiliation with the national group, Indivisible due to the overlap of common goals.  We believe we can learn, grow, and share more effectively with this affiliation.
