Clay County Democratic Party Monthly Meeting

This month’s speaker is Tom Downing, the Democratic candidate for NC State Senate District 50.
The through line in all of Tom’s experiences is “service.” All of his professional and personal roles have enabled him to view service through the singular lens of “working for everyone” rather than working for only the select few who meet predetermined criteria.
When speaking in public Tom will frequently say that his campaign is “for everyone.” All people enjoy the rights privileges guaranteed to us under our state and federal constitutions.
He speaks out about the damage that is done when the government casts aside people that they have deemed “undesirable” in the law. He pledges to fight for “liberty and justice for all,” not just for those that have been deemed worthy of it.
And… His main issues are: full funding for public schools and for teachers. Affordable housing and affordable child care and afterschool care. Bringing good jobs through coordinated economic development in the WNC region. He’s ready to listen, learn and lead. So bring your questions!

NOTE: Parking is limited directly in front of our HQ building. Here are a few guidelines for parking:
First to arrive please angle park with your nose in the left corner in the front of the HQ building. Next cars should park parallel to that and four or five cars will fit that way. If those spaces are taken, please use the parking on the far side of the red roof building, “D&S Custom Leather”, and pull toward the back (within red square in parking image below). Please do not park directly in front of that building (marked with an X in the image below).
